To do this they created a model that would look at patient data and use predictive analytics to improve the identification of colon cancer. They required a high-quality dataset to more effectively train and improve model performance.

SOLUTION
Due to privacy restrictions surrounding medical records, the Innodata team had to ensure that the data labeling environment and process was HIPPA compliant. Innodata’s team of physicians and oncologists identified and annotated granular data from thousands of patient discharge summaries. To ensure that high quality datasets were created the team used a multi-annotator methodology to make sure data was annotated twice and any discrepancies were adjudicated. This guaranteed clean and accurate datasets for the client.
IMPACT
With the delivery of these clean and highly accurate datasets, the research team and biotech company obtained ground truth data to use to train and retrain their model. They saw performance improvements and the model’s predictive analytics capabilities become smarter and more accurate thanks to the new ground truth dataset.
